Log Homes – A Rustic Look With Modern Amenities
Nothing can match the rustic beauty and durability of a well-built, handcrafted log home, and at Above Treeline Construction, log homes are one of our specialties. Over the course of 30 years, we’ve built hundreds of log homes throughout Colorado.
In fact, at our facility in Divide (which is near Colorado Springs, Colorado), we craft gorgeous, durable logs out of lodgepole pine and englemann spruce. By hand, we cut logs, peel logs, and notch logs that range from 8 inches to 30 inches in width, and up to 45 feet in length. We can also order western red cedar logs from British Columbia.
When it comes to log homes, we have a number of options available. We can build a custom log home on your property. We can sell you a log package and stack it on your property (for you or a local general contractor to finish). We can provide you with a DIY log home kit. Or we can sell you a log home on a prime mountain lot that includes spectacular views of Pikes Peak.
In general, it takes between 8 months and 18 months to complete a log home from scratch, depending on the size of the house. Custom log homes typically cost from $150-$300 per square foot, depending on the finishes and amenities, and they can be extremely energy efficient.
When it comes to log home construction, you need to choose a builder carefully, one who knows how to avoid the pitfalls of log home structures, which can include: leaning, bowing walls, and air infiltration.
